Phenylpiracetam is stronger than piracetam
Phenylpiracetam is a potent Nootropic, developed by Russian manufacturers as a cognitive booster with memory enhancing effects. It is based on the original racetam nootropic, piracetam. The additional phenyl- group on the molecule helps it to cross over the blood-brain barrier.
This allows greater effects and makes it roughly 60 times more effective than piracetam. It is sold in Russia as Carphedon or Phenotropil, and it is available there on prescription for its anticonvulsant, energizing and focusing properties. It is on the list of banned stimulants by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).[1]
Phenylpiracetam is effective at cognitive boosts and mental stimulation
The effects of phenylpiracetam are still being discovered to this day. Studies have found a number of potent cognitive benefits, and users report mental stimulation and increased energy. It is said to have stimulant effects and boosts physical endurance. Since phenylpiracetam is based on piracetam, its effects are similar to those of piracetam, only stronger.
Firstly, Piracetam has been found to exhibit significant neuroprotective effects, as well as helping with anxiety and depression and improving memory. Studies found that phenylpiracetam produces these same effects, only stronger.[2]
Secondly, Phenylpiracetam has also been found to work as a strong anticonvulsant substance, and to eliminate the effects of benzodiazepines on the Central Nervous System (works as a stimulant).[3]
Lastly, phenylpiracetam has been shown to be effective as a stimulant that increases physical performance and endurance and increases resistance to cold. It is because of these effects that it is listed as a banned substance by WADA.[4]
These are the effects that studies have shown phenylpiracetam to produce. However, the number of studies on phenylpiracetam are quite low at this point. It may also be interesting to do a Google search on user reviews, of which we will include a few below. These seem to confirm the findings of studies.
Phenylpiracetam is used as a research compound
Most studies and most users use a phenylpiracetam dosage of around 100 – 400mg daily. Some user reports state that they use more than this. It is commonly said that the maximum daily phenylpiracetam dosage should not exceed 750 mg.[5]
Some users report a tolerance to phenylpiracetam building up over 2 -3 days. They then chose to cycle their phenylpiracetam use, by dosing 2-3 days on, 2-3 days off. However, there are no studies yet indicating a phenylpiracetam tolerance, and it seems to be very user specific. Some state that they do not experience a tolerance at all. For more information about phenylpiracetam, read through our Phenylpiracetam Guide.
There seems to be a number of ways that people chose to use phenylpiracetam. Some chose to scoop phenylpiracetam into a capsule to avoid the taste of the powder. Some swallow with water, and some even take a phenylpiracetam sublingual dose.
Phenylpiracetam user reviews
Below is an excerpt from a user review left on Amazon.com. For more user reviews check out Reddit’s phenylpiracetam page, or read some of our customer’s reviews, available here and here.

“I decided to try Phenylpiracetam from Liftmode for my first foray into nootropics, and it looks like they’re dedicated to winning customers over with a wide selection of pure product and professional service at very reasonable prices.
Shipping was incredibly fast with my order arriving after only two days. Everything was very professionally packaged with the Phenylpiracetam contained in a shrink-wrapped aluminum & glass cosmetic jar and a .15cc measuring spoon in a heavy-duty zip-lock bag. Also included was a detailed three-page certificate of analysis confirming greater than advertised 98% purity– actually 99.2%.
I had been building my supplement stack toward the eventual inclusion of a Racetam. Having already supplemented citicoline (a recommended cofactor when using racetams) for a month with great success, I was ready to jump right in with the Phenylpiracetam.
I began my Phenylpiracetam experiment with a 100 mg dose taken sublingually. Initial effects set in after only about 20-30 building quickly to a rush of sustained energy then focus, waves of warm euphoria, and amazing lucidity within an hour or so. The dopamine based euphoria I experienced is the kind we seem to experience less and less over the years as we lose Dopamine receptors with age and alcohol use. For the first time in a long time, I felt highly activated and focused to do work (almost as if by invisible hand), so I set about effortless cleaning and organizing my space. The clinical findings of neuromotor activation were spot on.”[6] – Dave Kochman, Liftmode review on Amazon.com.
Euphoric Nootropics
Phenylpiracetam is often grouped with other euphoric Nootropics. These substances include piracetam, Noopept, huperzine A and choline bitartrate. Phenibut is sometimes also considered as a euphoric nootropic. For an interesting read about the ‘Big Five’ Nootropics available on Liftmode.com, read our upcoming feature article <here>.
